About the event
In A Nation of Ulysses, Victor Balanon presents familiar settings, scenes and character – whilst alluding to man’s universal underlying and current discontent of the human condition. The works this time shift through flashbacks and radical storytelling based on a thoughtful and calculating hero who outwitted many of his adversaries. Following the rhythm of James Joyce’s Ulysses, and of Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey[1]the viewer is taken on a visual journey through the compartments of Victor Balanon’s novelistic stream of consciousness, each painting giving voice to the artist’s seemingly disparate thoughts.
